I believe all art is shaped by the time and place it came from. When I was younger I never had a dog so didn’t really venture into the landscape around Bromley but naturally I feel connected to the greyness, the music and feel of the area even though I haven’t lived there in so long. The Cotswolds on the other hand is an expansive beautiful place. I walk in the hills behind where we live nearly every day with my dog. Music sounds amazing here. Just you, the dog, the music and the hills. The sun sets over the Malverns and the views from Cleeve hill are like something from the mind of Tolkien. If I think about the films I enjoy they often have a strong connection to place such as Heat (LA), Lantana (suburban Sydney), LA Haine (Paris) even something otherworldly like A Clockwork Orange is described through the detail of the Woolwich housing blocks. There is in fact a brilliant short film set in the Cotswolds called Field directed by Duane Hopkins but it appears to no longer be online, it is brilliant however. The images above are taken over the course of three or four outings into darkest Gloucestershire.

Memories of Croatia

Last summer we went away to a place that I’m growing to love more and more. The people are chilled out and friendly and the coast line is a maze of islands. Not only that but it hosts some of the best music festivals in the world. For me music festivals in the UK have felt a little tired, either that or I’ve become a little tired. Croatia now reminds me of how Ibiza in the nineties felt. These are a few shots of friends and family I took while there (and a couple me taken by my friend Lucy), some of these are snapshots but that’s cool, when it’s right I love a snapshot.. p.s. there’s a slideshow at the bottom too.

Here’s to a great year. I’m looking forward to what 2013 has in store certainly more weddings, more in the studio but I’ve also got the privilege this year of enjoying my own wedding taking place in Mallorca in the summer. I still have some personal shots to blog but that can wait, for now here are some of my great clients that I got to meet and shoot this year.

Wedding in a French Chateaux

Fionnuala and Julien got married recently in France not too far from the Alps and I was lucky enough to be invited to photograph the day. Fionnuala was actually a childhood friend of one of my past clients, the lovely Victoria from this fantastic Irish wedding. Lets just say the chateaux was special. Juliens family are from the area, Contrevoz a small village maybe an hour from Annecy and his aunty saw the chateaux nestled on top of a hill and wondered if the owners would be open to having the wedding there. She knocked on the door and luckily for them the owner was only too happy to provide his chateaux – simple as that!

It’s probably about time (in other words seven years after I shot my first wedding). If you like looking at images there will be a lot posted. Zetter hotel wedding London

I love the Zetter Hotel, admittedly the only time I stayed there (about four years ago) it was my birthday and we didn’t get back to the room until 9 in the morning but the hour I did stay there and the meal the night before convinced me that this is one of my favourite places in London. It’s cool, very relaxed and after having experienced the Hoxton hotel on a saturday night I can safely say it’s not packed with the suited offspring of Russian oligarchs drinking champagne cocktails in an atmosphere that’s more over dressed banking convention than saturday night out. But anyway this isn’t an advert for the Zetter, the Zetter is fab and so too are Camilla and Dominic two of the most relaxed, cool and nicest people to be around. This was their day:
