London Trump protest photography
Trafalgar Square , London Trump protest
London protests take place on a regular basis but protests against a particular US President you would think would be a one off. It now looks like there could be several more and we’re already up to three. These are unique times. There have been other demonstrations of course, notably when Bush visited after the Iraq war. Mugabe came with widespread noise, he was one of our favourites, gaining a knighthood to be revoked possibly because of his penchant for killing opposition leaders and there have been various others. To this extent, in terms of regularity though, maybe not. London Trump protest photography is not something I would usually cover, this is the second of its kind in London and the first proved a visual feast. I had photographed that one in Westminster and this was to be in Trafalgar Square. The first London rally can be seen here.
Interestingly the diverse range of characters were still present but thinned out slightly when compared to the protest that took place in Parliament Square in February. This was a mass protest, a sea of people filling every corner of Trafalgar Square. The atmosphere was a balance of anger, joy, togetherness mixed in with tribal vibes created by the usual opportunists around the periphery who come with small mobile sound systems and the unquenchable desire to have a rave, which is nice too. Trump knows this noise is being made and it’s certain it has an affect if only because it’s him. Will I be at the next? Watch this space.
